GhostedLink.com is designed with one thing in mind: privacy. Whether you're sharing a note that disappears after it's read or uploading a file that vanishes after download, we aim to collect as little data as possible while delivering a smooth and secure experience.
GhostedLink.com is a minimalist service for sharing one-time secret notes and encrypted file links. Our website address is: https://ghostedlink.com.
We don't track your every move. That said, here’s what we do collect — and only when necessary:
Secret Notes: When you create a Ghosted Note, it's encrypted and stored privately. It's automatically deleted after it's viewed once, or purged after a set number of days (default is 7).
Files: Uploaded files are encrypted and assigned a one-time download link. If you choose, you may enter an email to be notified when your file is downloaded. That email is only used for that one notification, then it's discarded.
For spam and abuse prevention, we may temporarily log IP addresses and browser info during form submissions. This helps us keep things secure and functional.
If you opt to receive an email notification when your file is accessed, your email is used one time to send that notification. We do not store it long-term, add it to a list, or use it for marketing.
GhostedLink.com uses minimal cookies:
When interacting with shortcodes or sharing forms, we may set a temporary cookie to help manage the user experience. These cookies expire after a short time and don’t store personal data.
We do not use tracking cookies or third-party marketing cookies.
We generally avoid embedding outside content. If we ever do (like a YouTube video or external widget), it may behave as if you visited the other site directly — meaning they may collect data or use cookies.
Secret Notes: Deleted after the first view, or automatically purged after X days (you can adjust this in your settings if you're an admin).
Files: Deleted after the first download or based on an expiration setting.
Emails (if used for notification): Deleted shortly after the notification is sent.
Comments (if enabled): Retained per standard WordPress behavior (see below).
If comments are ever enabled:
We collect the data shown in the comment form, your IP address, and browser agent to help detect spam.
An anonymized string from your email may be shared with the Gravatar service (see Gravatar’s Privacy Policy).
You have full control:
If you've submitted an email for file notifications, it’s already gone after use.
If you created a note or uploaded a file, that content deletes itself on schedule.
If you've left a comment (if enabled), you can request to have your data exported or deleted.
If commenting is enabled, it may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
We don’t sell or share your data. Period.
All notes and files are encrypted before being stored. URLs are randomized and not guessable. We also encourage users not to reuse links or send private content via unsecured platforms.
